Welcome Note

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great honor that we invite you to participate in the 2nd Point of Care Testing Advances Conference 2018 to be held on December 13-14, 2018 at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is a unique and unparalleled extension of US-based Cleveland Clinic’s model of care, specifically designed to address a range of complex and critical care  requirements unique to the Abu Dhabi population. The facilities at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi combine state-of-the-art amenities and world-class service standards, representing more than 30 medical and surgical specialties.

Finding candidates with the right academic qualifications is probably the easiest part to identifying the best person to run a POCT program. But not all of these will be right for this job. Selecting a candidate with the correct personality and aptitude is crucial. Identifying these qualities are more difficult to determine. “People skills” are vital for this position. POCT coordinators must have excellent communication skills, thorough understanding of the regulations, clinical knowledge, IT understanding and willingness to be a lifelong learner. Organising your own time, work prioritisation, cross pathology discipline knowledge is a must. Meeting and working with directors, managers and nursing regularly. No two days are ever the same! The 2nd Point of Care Testing Advances conference will delve deeper into these key considerations so that hospital/laboratory management can identify the best person. Those who want to pursue a career in this exciting field learn what is involved.

We will have lectures and panel discussions on how nursing and allied health professionals work towards the common goal of patient safety with real examples of effective collaboration. There will be a dedicated track on POCT coagulation dealing with the most pressing questions POCT coordinators have to face. On the quality front, we will focus on how to manage a POCT Quality control Program and perform a virtual audit to satisfy the ISO requirements. Our distinguished faculty include experts from the USA, Europe, UAE and the KSA.

We look forward to your participation  at the 2nd Point of Care Testing Advances Conference, and welcoming you to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
