Najwa Adlan, is a Medical Laboratory Supervisor in King Faisal specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Her role as a supervisor covers Reference Laboratories, Specimen Processing and Send outs in addition to The Point of Care Testing.

She has a bachelor’s degree as a Biochemist from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She took the module of POCT Management from Greenwich University in the UK. In addition, she also took modules on management, leadership, quality and soft skills training. She is a Certified MT Specialist, Saudi Arabia, Certified Professional in Health Care Quality, USA, Certified in Health Care Risk Management, USA as well as a Certified Trainer & Certified Personal Coach.

Najwa joined the POCT section in the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine in King KFSHRC-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in 2003. Under the leadership of DPLM, she worked with the POCT team to position POCT as a role model in the region for POCT Practices. As a result of active efforts, POCT/ KFSHRC-Riyadh was considered by assessors from CAP (2016) and JCIA (2017) as the best model for Best practices in POCT around the world.

Najwa was also the lead organizer for 4 POCT activities in Riyadh KFSHRC from 2010-2016 which was very successful and well attended. Najwa also represents KFSHRC POCT Program as a successful program in national and international conferences such as in Dubai, UAE, Berlin, Germany, Johannesburg, South Africa and Cape Town, South Africa.

Additionally, she was the winner of the Point of Care Coordinator of the year 2014 award from the American Association for Clinical Chemistry – CPOCT as the first non-North American to get this award. She was also recognized in her organization as the Allied Health Staff of the Year in 2015 for her passion towards excellence and supporting patient care.

In addition to her passion to POCT she also has a passion for quality and raising standards of Health care; she is a CAP inspector and a surveyor in National Accreditation firm (CBAHI).
